Lodge Members Recognized at 2010 DeMolay State Conference

Members of Frontier lodge received a number of personal awards at this years DeMolay State Convention, held at Oklahoma State University 9-11 July.

RW Brad Rickelman, Junior Grand Warden for the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma, received the Legion of Honor, recognizing his work in Masonry and the community. Brad was also present to assist the Grand Master in giving out a large number of scholarships to the boys of DeMolay.

Robert Cook and his wife Eden received the Cross of Honor, recognizing their work as adult leaders for Stillwater and Oklahoma DeMolay.  Robert was elected (or drafted, depending on who you talk to) as Secretary of the Oklahoma DeMolay Advisory Council.  Eden was selected by the boys as this year's state Mom.

One of our EAs had a big weekend as well.  BJ Mahan received the Chevalier Award, one of the highest awards in DeMolay, won a $1500 scholarship from the Grand Lodge and the LV Orton Scholarship (the second for Stillwater chapter in four years), was elected State Senior Councilor (equivalent of Senior Grand Warden) for Oklahoma DeMolay and was selected as DeMolay of the Year (twice for Stillwater in five years).

Congratulations to all of those brothers recognized for their hard work in bringing up young men to be more productive members of their communities.

Stillwater Masons help raise money for DeMolays

The annual chili supper fundraiser was held in March to raise money to send the Stillwater DeMolays to the Frank Marshall tournament in Arlington, Texas.   This event is sponsored every year by Stillwater Masons, with food donated by a number of Stillwater establishments.

In the national press -

Freemasonry is the "topic du jeur" of today's press.  Because of books like Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and Hollywood movies such as National Treasure, there is a renewed interest in the craft.  You can also find lots of information on the internet.  But take heed ! You can't always believe everything you read, so follow up with research.

If you have a question or concern, ASK A MASON.  You will get an honest answer to your question.  You can also read "Masonry for Dummies", "Idiots Guide to Masonry", or "Everything about Freemasonry".  These are all available at public libraries and bookstores.
